Peyton Freeman Wins Southern Showcase $22K race

Down deep in Alabama at Deep South Speedway where there was a 50 lap Hunt the Front Southern Showcase sponsored by Sweet Victory Apparel. Freeman and Overton lead the field and battled for 1st at then came joseph joiner where he made a pass down the back stretch for the lead with Overton and freeman following behind.

They get single file as they race around the bottom and within 5 laps joiner catches the tail of the field. Then caution comes out on the 2 car of bo slay with a tire that let go and he enters the hot pit to get it changed.

Green flag flew again on lap 7 Joiner jumps out front with Overton, freeman battling for 2nd. Caution comes out as 4 cars pile up in turn 4. 91,1,2,17. They get them untangled and cars get back in there running order as they were last scored. Most cars involved had minimal damage and was able to continue.

Cars get back to Delaware file with joiner out front and Overton, freeman right behind him and the lights went out and the green flag flew again on lap 7. As cars entered turn 1 there was a 4-car pileup with 91.17,24,17m all cars pulled away with no damage again we didn't complete a lap still on lap 7.

We went back green on lap 7 joiner hits the LOUD PEDDLE jumps out front. Overton takes the high side and tries to take the lead with freeman in 3rd. All 3 cars get in single file along the bottom of the track with 11 laps down and caution comes out on the BJ Robinson 1R car as he slows coming out of turn 4, he is not happy with Ryan crane as he makes contact under caution.

With 10 laps complete the green flag fly's once again with joiner out front followed by Overton, freeman, Putnam, Hughes in top 5. Overton tries to make a pass on the high side but can't get it to work. Caution back out on the 995 car of Falcon.

Green flag back out on lap 11 joiner out front with freeman battling Overton for 2nd. He manages to make it work along the bottom as he passes for 2nd. Now he is on the hunt to pass joiner as he follows him along the bottom. Then caution back out for a single car spin.

Green flag fly's again with joiner out front. Overton passes joiner on the high side of turn 3 & 4 and Joiner hit a rut going through turns 3 & 4 and losses control and has damage with the 11 car of Hughes which had nowhere to go, and caution is out on lap 25.

While under caution Overton had a right rear flat and had to go to the hot pits for a tire change and has to tag the rear of the field.

Green flag out again at the halfway mark now Freeman is out front. Rusty Schlenk has issues appears to be a power failure and caution comes out as he couldn't exit the track.

Again, green flag flew on lap 25 with freeman out front. Cars get single file as the go around the bottom. Freeman out front with wing, Hughes, Rickman and Putnam in the top 5 with 20 to go.

Overton and joiner are coming through the field in a hurry with Overton advancing to 5th position in his longhorn by wells. He passes Rickman on the back stretch for 4th place with 16 to go. Freeman still out front with Hughes, Putnam & Overton following with now 37 complete. Overton passes for 3rd coming out of turn 4 putting Putnam to 4th with now 10 laps to go. Payten Freeman bouncing his way around the bottom trying to pass lap traffic with 9 to go. Spencer Hughes is trying to catch freeman but afraid he is going to run out of laps as there is now 6 to go. Caution is out with the 17m of Monte Skinner sitting middle of the track with damage on the right side.

With 6 laps to go Freeman is out front with Hughes and Overton right behind him and the green flag drops freeman hugs the bottom. Overton jumps up to 2nd and passes freeman going into turn 1 and freeman charges back and takes the lead back going down the back stretch. Overton trying to get the high side to work driving the wheels off of it. Both driver smashing the loud peddle and caution comes out with 2 to go on the 0 car as he sits in the bottom of turn 1.

Cars get single file with 2 to go freeman leads with Overton and Hughes behind him. Freeman takes the bottom and Overton takes the outside. Unable to make the pass Peyton Freeman crosses the finish line first right ahead of Overton. Peyton Freeman definitely had the 22 machine on a rail along the bottom bouncing thru the turns. This is his biggest win of his career just as he sets to make his touring series debut next season.
