Dresden Ohio's Devin Moran regained the lead on lap 45 from the rim riding Jason Feger then held off Ricky Thornton Jr. for the $30,000 payday. Brandon Sheppard would take third as Feger and Jonathan Davenport rounded out the top 5.
Mike Marlar took overall fast time honors then won his heat race with a last lap pass on Cody Overton. Davenport,Moran, and Brandon Sheppard won the other heat races with BShepp winning his race by inches over Shannon Babb. B Main winners were Gordy Gundaker and Kyle Bronson.
Mike Marlar would lead the field to green from his pole starting spot but it was the outside pole siiter , Devin Moran , that would lead the opening lap. Moran would hold that lead until "Highside Hustler" would take the lead from Moran. Feger was seeking his first Lucas Oil win since 2015.
Feger stayed up top too long as the bottom started to rubber up and Moran would make his winning pass with 15 laps to go. Ricky Thornton Jr , who was going for 4 Lucas wins in a row , also got under the fading Feger. Then Sheppard would take third on lap 48 from Feger before the entire field was all glued to the bottom the rest of the way.
Thornton would try to run a lane up on Moran but the rubber was the place to be as Moran would win by 3/4th of a second over the series point leader. In victory lane Moran thanked his car owner Roger Sellers and the Double Down Motorsports crew. Moran said he was conserving his tires after Feger took the lead as he was thinking he was abusing his tires running the cushion.
This concludes the Illinois Speedweek and for the second consecutive night one of the homestate drivers almost won as Babb was just a few laps short of winning Friday night at Farmer City. If Feger would have won last night the FALS backstretch would have been rocking for sure.
The series is off until Memorial Day weekend for the Show Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland,MO. Ricky Thornton Jr maintains a healthy point lead as Davenport , Moran , and Marlar are your current top 4 in the standings.
