Moran Beats Rice at Florence for 1st HTF win

Devin Moran held off Florence fan favorite Josh Rice to claim the $20,000 Hunt the Front/Northern Allstars race at Florence Speedway last night. Joseph Joiner rounded out the podium from his 21st starting spot. Jimmy Owens and Jason Jameson rounded out the top 5.

37 Late Models were at Florence Speedway with Devin Moran kicking off the night as the top qualifier. Heat races went to Moran,Jake O'Neil,Brandon Overton, and Jason Jameson. After the redraw Jameson drew the pole.

Jameson would fire off at the drop of the green to lead the opening lap. He would hold the lead until Rice would went to the top of the leaderboard and lead lap 17.

Rice's lead would only last two laps as Moran went to the lead on lap 19. Rice would drop a few more spots before he charged back to pressure Moran in the closing laps.

Dale McDowell would pressure Moran for the lead but he faded back to 6th when the checkers waved. Meanwhile Joseph Joiner was moving his way up through the field from 21st to his third place finish in his first visit to the Northern Kentucky speedway.

The win was Moran's first win at Florence Speedway since 2016. Moran said his Double Down Motorsports Longhorn could go anywhere he wanted to go. It was fast enough to keep the low riding McDowell behind him and stay in front of the cushion pounding Rice.

The Hunt the Front Series goes to Senoia Raceway July 5th paying $15,000 to the winner. Jimmy Owens leads the points.

Northern Allstars Late Model next race August 1st at I-65 Speedway in Scottsburg,In for the Mike Jewell Classic. Josh Rice leads Devin Gilpin in the season points standings.
