Madden Wins Back 2 Back at The BLUE GRAY 100

It was a cool Sunday evening where 27 Super Late Models entered the competition with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series for the 100-lap event down in Gaffney, SC which is a 3/8-mile high banked Red Clay Oval.
It would be Chris "SMOKEY" Madden driver of the #44 Rocket XR1 Chassis Sponsored by Drydene would set overall fast time with a time of 14.395.

The Green Flag flew for the Blue Gray 100 lap event lead my Chris madden and Trent Ivey leading the field. Chris Madden jumps out front with an early lead with Trent Ivey in 2nd followed by Zack Mitchell. Caution came out on lap 4 on Ethan Wilson as he tagged the wall coming out of turn 4.
Cars get back in the Delaware file with Smokey leading the field and the green flag came out. As Smokey jumped out for the lead once again with cars double filed behind him fighting for position. Yellow came out once again for Ethan Wilson as there appears to be a steering issue.
Green flag came back out on to start lap 6 again smokey jumps out front with now Zack Mitchell and Trent Ivey following. Cars battling for position throughout the field they managed to get single file. Trent Ivey put pressure on Mitchell trying to get that 2nd position. The groove for most of the cars was bottom to the middle but madden sticking his right rear on the high side trying to find some speed. Lap 19 madden caught the tail end of the field putting cars lap down. Then caution came out on Jeff Smith as he slowed going down the back stretch.
Green Flag came out on lap 19 once again madden jumps out for an early lead with Mitchell and Ivey following. Cars get single file and madden seems to create a push coming off the corners. But madden still has a 4-car lead on Mitchell and Ivey. Caution back out as the 18d Daulton Wilson had issues and entered hot pits.
Green flag came out again on lap 39 with madden jumping out front but Mitchell this time was battling for the lead, but Mitchell pushed a little and madden extended his lead. Then madden jumps the cushion going through 1 & 2 letting Mitchell catch back up. Then caution came out short of the halfway mark on the 18D of Daulton Wilson with a flat tire.
Green flag out once again on lap 49 with madden out front now 50 laps remaining in the blue gray 100. Mitchell, Ivey, Brown is the top 4. Cars begin single file around the 3/8-mile track. Madden catches the tail of the field on lap 57 and brings mitchell to battle for the lead as they are going through traffic. Madden slips away after getting clear of traffic and again has a 5-6 car lead on Mitchell. Caution comes out as cla knight and yarborough pops tires. Almost half the field came into hot pits to get tire changes.
Cars get Delaware file behind smokey madden with Ivey and Mitchell right behind him and the green flag came out on lap 68 with 32 laps to go. Cars hammer down and quickly gets single file. Ivey falls back to 5th as his tires seem to be fading away. Then stickler passes Ivey for 5th. Then the caution came out on the 88 machine of Trent Ivey as his tire let go.
With 24 to go and 9 cars never took a pit stop yet the green flag came out. Madden out front then its Mitchell, Watkins, Brown and Strickler in top 5. Caution back out with 23 to go on Brice harper with a right rear down and he heads to hot pits
Again, green flag flew with 23 to go madden out front with Mitchell and the 16 to follow. Madden is coming off the corner like a Rocket as he extends his lead. Caution comes out on the 03 of David Yandle with a flat tire on lap 80.
Green flag out again with 20 to go madden out front as he is running 17 sec laps again with Mitchell and Watkins. Then caution comes out in turns 3 &4 with several cars piled up and one on its top which was Brycen Harper the 20H car he was out and ok. Michael Brown, Benji Hicks, and others involved with the red flag that came out. Madden hits the hot pits for a tire change and gives up the lead with 19 to go.
Green flag flew once again on lap 81 now with the 57 car of Zack Mitchell out front, Watkins and Strickler right behind. Strickler passes for 2nd down the back stretch and gets in line right behind Mitchell. With 14 to go madden has made his way up to 12th with that new right rear tire. Trouble in turn 1 with 2 cars involved the P4 and 5H cars both have damage.
Green flag out again and Mitchell right rear blew going into turn 3 and caution comes out and he heads to hot pits.
Stickler leads the field to green with 10 to go as he powered out front with a 10-12 car lead. Maden has now made his way to 4th with 8 to go. He is putting pressure on the 55 car for 3rd. Daulton Wilson runs in 2nd with Strickler out front. Caution out with the 57-car stopped on the high side of turn 4 appears to maybe a power failure with a streak of fluid leaking from the car.
Green flag out with 6 to go and Strickler jumps out front with Wilson and madden following. Madden is on a rail and takes the inside and passes for 2nd coming out of turn 4. Madden catches Strickler with 2 to go coming out of turn 2. Strickler blows his tire coming out of turn 4 and finishes his race with a flat.

Madden wins the BLUE GRAY 100 after coming from the back of the field after a tire change and winning back-to-back. This is the 8th time he has won this event.
