Brandon Overton turned back challenges from Payton Freeman in traffic and pulled away to a $5,000 victory on opening night of the Southern Showcase presented by Sweet Victory Apparel!

It was a Brandon "BIG SEXY" Overton kind of night as he set fast time with a 13.932 and broke the previous Late Model track record of 15.304 set by Rick Eckert of York, Pa., during March 13, 2009 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series visit.

Brandon then went out for heat 1 and won it as well over Brian Rickman. Then came feature time as he was setting on the pole for the 25 lap feature along side of Payton Freeman starting on the front row.

The green flag finally dropped and Overton jumped out and took a early lead over freeman. It then only took 3 laps for Overton to catch the tail of the field and started lapping the back of the pack.

The caution flag came out on lap 5 as the Overton was coming up on the 17 machine of Monte Skinner as he looped it around right in front of Overton as they barely missed each other in turns 1&2. Skinner was able to fire up and tag the tail as he brought the caution out.

We went back under the green and once again Overton jumps back out front. With freeman and Rickman running 2nd and 3rd. As the field was battling for real estate deep in the field almost had a mess but they all corrected and remained under green.

Overton still out front then the caution flag flew again on lap 8 as Jeremy Brodeus spun out in 1 & 2. He was also able to fire up and tag the tail of the cars on the lead lap.

We was back to green flag action for the 3rd time and Overton was back out front. As there was battles throughout the field drivers was battling for that next position. The caution came out once again as there was a pileup coming out of turn 4 only 1 car had to be towed off it was the 1R of BJ Robinson.

Once again we went back under the green for several laps and caution flew again for the 91 of Rusty Schlenk as he folded the nose under ending his night.

We went back under green for the final time and they had nothing for Overton as he parked his Longhorn Chassis by Wells Motorsports in victory lane.

Freeman settled for second after holding off a late charge from third-finishing Joseph Joiner, who rallied back to a podium finish after fading early in the 25-lapper.
